Earlier this year everyone was given extra time to file taxes due to the pandemic, well time's up! Taxpayers must file or seek an extension for their taxes by the new deadline today (July 15th) or face a penalty. You can avoid the penalty if you file for an extension by Wednesday.
You can also work out a payment agreement to pay in installments. Taxpayers who file for an extension will have until Oct. 15 to file their taxes. If you don't pay by the deadline you will face a penalty but that penalty is smaller than the penalty for not filing.
