Beyoncé's BeyGOOD foundation has launched a relief fund for people affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.

In a social media post on Sunday (January 12), BeyGOOD announced that it was launching its LA Fire Relief Fund and donating $2.5 million to the cause.

Bey's foundation noted that the funds would be specifically directed to people impacted by the Eaton Fire, a wildfire that has devastated the Altadena and Pasadena areas east of Los Angeles.

"Los Angeles we stand with you. BeyGOOD is taking action by announcing the LA Fire Relief Fund with a donation of 2.5 million dollars," the foundation wrote on Instagram. "The fund is earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires."

Severe wildfires, including the Pacific Palisades Fire and the Eaton Fire, began to rage in Los Angeles County on Tuesday (January 7). The wildfires have left at least 16 dead and forced over 100,000 people to evacuate from their homes.

While the Palisades Fire has hit many celebrity homes, including Bey's mom, Tina Knowles, the Eaton Fire has destroyed homes and businesses in the historic Black neighborhood of Altadena.

According to reports, Altadena is known as California's first middle-class Black community. During the Great Migration, the area served as a refuge for Black Americans to flee the Jim Crow South. Altadena offered Black families a chance to acquire land, build homes, and create generational wealth without redlining and other forms of systemic oppression.

The BeyGOOD foundation said you can support impacted families by visiting their website.
