'Playboy' Honors Trans Awareness Week 2019 With Geena Rocero Feature

Playboy is honoring Transgender Awareness Week 2019 with trans model, speaker and activist Geena Rocero.

On Monday (November 11), Rocero, 35, who went viral in 2014 for her coming out TED Talk, took to Instagram to rejoice in her new feature for the mag, which sheds light on five prominent trans individuals impacting change for the LGBTQ community on a nationwide scale. "I asked some magical beings to share some thoughts. Huge thanks @Playboy Fam for this allyship," she captioned the post. Among the chosen include activist Ashlee Marie Preston, actress Candis Cayne, writer Tiq Milan, singer Nomi Ruiz, and American Civil Liberties Union legal counsel Chase Strangio.

Rocero's feature marks another milestone for the model after her August 2019 spread served as the first time an openly transgender Asian-Pacific Islander model posed for the magazine's coveted centerfold. "As the first Trans Asian Pacific Islander Playmate, I feel that I’m making it possible for someone to reach for their biggest dreams just like the people who came before me," Rocero said in a statement at the time. "I also hope that for anyone who’s been deemed ‘other’ to know that what makes you different, is your power, especially the unapologetic expression of your sexuality, gender and the value of your unique perspective."
