Rejoice Because 'The L Word' Is Getting A Reboot

Fans of The L Word have reason to rejoice because Showtime announced that they are working on a reboot of the hit show with some of the series' original stars.

After running from 2004 to 2009 on the network, the lesbian drama will see a return to life with co-creator Ilene Chaiken as executive producer of the reboot. Oh, and before you ask, yes, Jennifer Beals, Kate Noenning and Leisha Haley are all in talks to make a return to the show alongside some new faces. Even though another phase of the show is in the works, the reboot still needs to be green lit.

Not so coincidentally, the reboot of The L Word was an idea spawned by fan excitement of the cast's reunion photoshoot with Entertainment Weekly. Back in May, the women shared an interest in returning to the series, emphasizing the lack of lesbian lifestyle on the small screen. “We talk about it all the time,” Chaiken said. “When we went off the air in 2009, I think a lot of people thought, Okay, the baton is passed now, and there will be lots of shows that portray lesbian life. There’s really nothing. It feels like maybe it should come back."
